Ken Demarest
Ken Demarest is a Game Industry Executive with experience in technology, product development,
operations, strategy and business development.
Mr. Demarest has grown with the games industry from the Golden Age of
game development to executive consulting for Fortune 500 and startup investment
companies.
At Stormfront Studios Mr. Demarest was Studio Technical Director and the Executive Producer
for product prototypes. Responsibilities included guiding tool and engine development
across five platforms and multiple products, collaborating across disciplines
on development issues, external relationships, cost and bid modeling, and cost controls.
His "Logan" localization tool has assisted Eidos, Vivendi, and others
seeking to streamline the text and audio translation process.
At Ion Storm Austin Mr. Demarest provided technical leadership to help ship
Deus Ex: Invisible War and Thief: Deadly Shadows. Later work with Eidos would
help establish the Eidos centralized tools group.
Mr. Demarest's time with Accenture, the $11B global consultancy, included
due diligence evaluations of development teams, process and business quality
for both new investments and Fortune 500 acquisitions in software, hardware
and online gaming. His strategic work has aligned corporate, marketing,
and product development initiatives to meet customer needs.
At the head of Terra-Byte Consulting, Mr. Demarest advised online providers
of ISP and gaming services on growth, risk management, development practices,
and billing. Mr. Demarest provided operational recommendations and leadership
across Accounting, Risk Management, Customer Care, Online Operations and
Product Development.
While CEO of Titanic Entertainment, Mr. Demarest completed a Regulation-D
stock offering and produced the landmark online title NetStorm, published
through Activision.
Earlier in his career at Electronic Arts & Origin, Mr. Demarest coded
for Wing Commander I, lead programming for Ultima VII, and produced the
technology showcase BioForge. As Origin's Technical Director, he guided
the market analysis and proof-of-concept for Ultima Online.
Behind the business experience, Mr. Demarest's harbors an innate talent
as a technology and game play innovator.
A highly regarded public speaker, Mr. Demarest's faculty service at the
Accenture training facility was ranked top 5% by other executives from
around the world. Mr. Demarest has also spoken at educational institutions
and industry conferences such as the GDC, and SXSW.
In his spare time, Mr. Demarest keeps his game coding and design skills
sharp. He has created an RPG 'mod' rated Hall of Fame in a field of two
thousand modules.
